Pentax
Pentax announced the ultra-slim Optio S at CES, this camera has a unique lens system which occupies far less space than a traditional three times optical zoom because it literally slides three of the lens elements out of the path of the retracting lens system and puts them back again when you power-up. Pentax appear to have also licensed this lens to Casio for the EX-Z3.
Just before PMA Pentax announced the three megapixel three times zoom Optio 33L which takes the 330GS's flip out LCD one stage further so that it can now rotate around two axis. Pentax also announced two very interesting cameras, the Optio 450 and 550 could well be the dark horse products of the show, with four and five megapixels respectively these cameras pack a big five times optical zoom lens into a compact metal body. They are also kitted out with full manual controls and priced very competitively.

SanDisk
SanDisk's offerings included new Memory Stick Pro cards (256 MB / 512 MB / 1 GB), the SanDisk Digital Photo Viewer, an expanded Ultra performance line and probably more interestingly a new line of 'Extreme' professional performance cards. New Ultra cards include a 512 MB SD card and a Type I 1.0 GB Compact Flash, the SD card with a claimed sustained write speed of 2.5 MB/sec, the CF card a sustained write speed of 6 MB/sec. The new Extreme range have identical performance to Ultra cards but are guaranteed to work reliably in more extreme environments, quoted operating temperature is -25 to 85 degrees Celsius (-13 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit).
