The dpreview.com challenges system has been designed to allow members of our community to create and moderate challenges for the benefit of the rest of the community.
Any registered dpreview community member can become a challenge host provided they have a minimum level of participation in the community and haven't been too naughty here in the past. If you're not a member yet, register now then enter a few challenges and/or participate in some forum discussions then before lodging an application apply.
The contents of a challenge host's to-do list varies throughout their challenge's life-cycle. During the preperation phase the host will:
The challenge is then announced and the challenge host can take it easy in the days before submissions open. However, once entries start flooding in (and until the end of the voting phase) the host needs to review any complaints made against submitted images.
The challenges system will take care of tabulating the votes (we plan to implement a 'judging' option soon) and email all contestents notifying them of their placing. As a challenge host you will also receive an email detailing all results for the challenge.
The role of the challenge host will probably change as the challenge system evolves (probably additional responsibilities will be added to support new features) however the essence of the role will remain.

Also ensure you have enough available time to host a challenge (reviewing several hundred images and complaints, weekly can be a lengthy process).
