CeBIT 2002: 0600 GMT: Canon has today announced the DIGITAL IXUS v² (EU name) / S200 DIGITAL ELPH (US name). The DIGITAL IXUS v² has the same 2x optical zoom, 2 megapixel CCD as the previous Digital IXUS (S110 ELPH) but now has a revised stainless steel body design, an orientation sensor, improved navigation controls, selectable ISO, spot metering, better Direct Print (CP-100, CP-10 and BJ S820D) and EXIF Print (EXIF 2.2) support. In addition there's also a new waterproof casing (WP-DC600) which enables the IXUS v² to be used at depths of up to 30 m (100 ft).

CeBIT, 13 March 2002 - Canon today unveils the new DIGITAL IXUS v². This new edition to the IXUS family offers the ultimate in style and stunning images - true digital "haute couture".

Crafted from high quality Stainless Steel, the new DIGITAL IXUS v² is a joy to hold, and encapsulates the essence of the IXUS design philosophy - sleek, smart and ultimately stylish. Canon's designers have not only made this a visual masterpiece, they have also improved the ergonomics with a new cross-key layout for easy control. This IXUS is set to become THE must-have model for 2002.

The DIGITAL IXUS v² connects directly to Canon's innovative Direct Print printers. Direct Print is the easiest way to get superb photo prints from a Canon digital camera in no time at all. Simply connect the camera to the printer, select an image and watch as it becomes a perfect print. No matter what the image, the Card Photo Printer CP-100 is ideal for brilliant 10x15 cm photos making this printer every DIGITAL IXUS owner's must have accessory. For larger photos the Canon Bubble Jet S820D can handle up to A4 size prints.

Despite its amazingly compact form, the DIGITAL IXUS v² boasts superb image quality. Combining a 2.0 Mega Pixel CCD and 2x optical zoom lens (35 - 70mm, 35mm equivalent) and, with Canon's advanced 3-point AiAF focusing and evaluative exposure control, this camera delivers high quality, sharp photos with every shot no matter what the setting.

The IXUS v² allows owners to demonstrate their creativity, with a movie mode for clips up to 30 seconds and photo effects mode, letting them choose the most fitting look for their memories from vivid color, to classic black and white. The IXUS v² also incorporates an "intelligent orientation-sensor" which automatically detects and rotates the images ready for viewing on the LCD monitor, or for downloading to a computer.

Canon supplies drivers with the DIGITAL IXUS v² for Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me and Windows XP, and Macintosh 8.6 - 9.2 and OS X v10.1. It also comes complete with a package of photo and video manipulation and printing software.

A full range of accessories is available for the DIGITAL IXUS v² including a new 30-meter waterproof case, for use on the beach, or the slopes, a stylish soft case, and an AC Power supply. The new car battery charger even allows charging on the move.
