Opinion: Very good telephoto zoom, good details at maximum zoom, very good IS, let you get good quality photo (best from compact camera) at equiv. f=400mm! For this: 5 stars!

Very slow camera, you will miss many photos if you are not already prepared to get it. The zoom is slow (it is right that it is long), the AF is very slow. Also, take to long until take the next shut. The white balance is not so good and the color in artificial light are not fine too. For this: 2.5 stars!

I tested 2 cameras, one is blowing the highlight every time in good light when is in Auto Mode, so that the sky is half blinking in histogram. On the other side the exposure is very easy to be set up/down by whell dial. The other camera have a better exposure but get less details when compared in full size.

Video HD have good details, but the AF work slow and bring seconds of blur when zooming.

Expensive for what it bring, with the exception of the long zoom. If you like and need a good telephoto camera in a small body, SX210is is a very good choice and you could pay the price. I keep it just for this.

Later Edit: One battery is not enough if you want a travel day of shooting and video, you need a spare battery.

I have also: Canon A620, A630, Canon 450D+Lenses

Opinion: I'm a long time Canon user: I tried the Lumix TZ-10 and
had such a disaster with the Mac interface that I sent it back
and got one of these instead. I'm seriously impressed.
Everything works pretty much the way I expect, and a
couple of the first shots I've taken have been quite
extraordinary in level of detail and sharpness for a camera
this size. The video works very well, and the zoom is pretty
wonderful.

The pop-up flash thing is only a mild irritant - I quickly got
into the habit of keeping a finger on the flash when
switching the camera on to stop it popping up.

Problems: The one thing that annoys me on all Canon digital cameras is
the flap over the USB connector, which really feels like it's
going to break every time I open it. It never has yet, but still...

Opinion: Being a pro-Canon owner, I find the sx210is easy to use. I had A520 and Ixus85, and wanted a higher MP and higher zoom camera with all the manual features available without the need to go for an SLR.

I agree with most of the users here which do not like the flash position, which will obstruct the handling of the camera.

Pictures are first class provided you know how to use the manual settings available. Never use 'Auto' mode, for I'd be using my Ixus if I needed such. Would normally use Tv to adjust the lighting to the picture. When Tv is not enough, I will go for Manual.

Flash is some what a let down, and unless you choose your ISO, it normally is in high ISO with most pictures, and ended with very soft pictures as reviewed by the dpreview experts.

The zoom range and HD video is a major plus. The video quality and the image stabilizer beats the SD canon camcorder FS100. I had FS100 which without image stabilizer is a totally unusable camcorder.

Problems: I haven't bring my camera back to bestbuy. I wanted to confirm with the users here if the video playback is silent. I checked the canon website and it mentioned that the slow playback is silent but not in normal mode. My normal playback mode is silent too. If this is not defect, then this is a a big thumb downs.

Opinion: **** "The Little Camera that Could" ****

I own and used the SX210 since April 2010. This is the best of it's class. It covers all areas with typical Canon "Point and Shoot Quality. The lens reaches from 28-392mm, which is amazing, but needs a little practice. If someone is not interested in using the full range of this lens, then a normal range "Point and Shoot" whould be easier to use. If you want a "All in One" pocket device then this is it.

Problems: None

Opinion: I use vid quite a bit and this is really good, upgraded from TZ1, still getting used to the system, SLR would be nice but in fact this is practical for me, I travel light and require point and squirt, this is compact non lumpy massive spec re. optical zoom and image size. Am using cheap 8gig sd class 2 and little problem, after the old TZ1 screen this is a delight, no regrets at the moment just learning its power and quirks, face/smile recognition etc.
Panasonic ZS7 looks nice , bit lumpy zoom etc not as powerfull, may have been a contender choice made now too late lol.

Problems: The much talked about flash anoyance has not given me any probs, it is in the place where your finger will naturally be .. I dont use flash much ... there is a slight snick when cam switched on & it remains down (finger weight) GOOD!
I did have concern about manually pulling it up but it seems this is ok.

Opinion: Good pictures, on par with panasonic zs7, but lags on auto focus time adjust, and in proper exposure auto adjustment. This greatly affects the video performance, to a point that everything is blurry often, and exposure goes in and out (washes out the image). This is why I bought a Sony DSC-HX5 instead of the other two.

Problems: video auto focus takes a lot of time to adjust, causing the image to be very blurry and obviously not sharp at all. That's why I bought the Sony DSC-HX5 which has an incredible low light performance, and the video is outstanding, I must say, after owning a panasonic ZS7, the Sony DSC-HX5 was the winner by far. The Panasonic ZS7 came in a good second place, and the Canon sx210is in a disappointing third place.

Opinion: Firstly let me say that the first four reviews are a waste of time and should be removed, Anyway bought this PowerShot SX 210IS to replace my PowerShot SX100IS I usually change my camera after about six months or so but held on to my SX100IS because I really liked it and did not really see any reason to change for face lifted models with a few more mega pixels, I was temped by the PowerShot SX200IS but never bought because of the flash always staying up.

The PowerShot SX210IS firstly the way I hold a camera and turn it on my hand stops the flash from popping up (Canon say this will do no harm to the camera) so this is how I have been using it, If I need it ill pull it up and push it down if I don’t, so it not a issue as it was on the SX200, picture quality is very good but for me I see no difference between it and my old SX100 quality which I have to say is very good also , where the SX210IS ticks all the right boxes over my old SX100IS is its smaller with a bigger zoom more megs pixels a quite a few more features plus a wide LCD screen, and be able to zoom in HD moves is a big plus. Battery life is also good but I always carry a spare anyway , To sum it up I really like this new SX210IS its very pocket able and well built, my only issue being the macro is not as good 5cm compared to 1cm of my old SX100.

Problems: None so far

Opinion: Ok.. I actually have the camera. The store I got it said it was backordered but there were actually 3 in stock so I bought one. YOu can read the stats as far as what it has. I will be brief. The camera is excellent. It does very well in outdoors, indoors flash and no flash low light stitations. It can go full manual as well as auto and a number of pre programmed settings. It's high definition video and stereo sound are great. At first the position of the flash seems annoying but in a short time it is no problem and the fact that you can just close the flash to jshut it off if a plus. I do not think you could do better for 350 bucks. Oh and the zoom is just great to have something that powerful in a small machine.

Opinion: Why are these idiots not censored? This camera is not
even available. I might also be going for a DSLR but at
least I will have the decency to wait until the camera is
available and reviewed.
