Opinion: I just got this Machine couple of days back, very much glad to own such a wonderful camera (Specially for the beginners who have just got the DSLR after point and shoot). The options are very user friendly and any body for the matter with basic knowledge about camera would be able to use it. People who have just started their hobby would love to own this. :)

Its a pride to own such amazing camera.

Problems: nothing encountered as such...would report if found any

Opinion: To Canon Co.,
Satisfied with pictures and focus, but a lil bit dissatisfaction regarding vdos.Though I am not into video makings and still vdos I shoot is ok but comparing to those with auto focus ,low light capabilities and sharp qualities,it serves just a step down.I know money matters here. But what I paid deserves, I think.

Problems: 1%

Opinion: When I got great shots (paired up with my 15-85 IS) the shots were stellar. The problem is it generally took between 2 and 4 shots to get that. I do not like Canon's implementation of the evaluative meter. It is not evaluative. It is a partial-spot meter if you use a single AF point. Also the meter locks when the shutter release button is pushed; this would not be so bad if the AF point wasn't metered on so heavily. I find that Center-weighted metering works much better and give a more balanced and better exposed shot.
Pros: Quick AF, Menu is logically laid out, Live View battery life seemed longer than listed.

Cons: Metering system, No continuous AF in video (obviously), 3.4fps is slowest in its class, DR was no better than my old Nikon D40.

Would not recommend this camera. For the same money as a rebel, I find the Sony's a better featured camera that takes great photos on the 1st shot, not the 2nd or 3rd like my (now sold) Canon.

Problems: Part of the finger grip started pulling out from the body slightly.

Opinion: A great twin lens package kit, purchased for just over AUD$ 1000. My only complaint is the camera instruction manual, it is very confusing. This camera takes better pictures, than I do!!!

Problems: None so far.

Opinion: I you want to upgrade to an entry level Dslr, the Canon Rebel T2i is perfect. I've had nothing but great experiences with it so far, and highly recommend it to everyone.

Other than the T2i, I own (and primarily shoot with) the Rebel XS (1000D), and also have extensive experience with the Canon 50D. After finally saving up enough for the T1i, I managed to get a few bucks from my father and bought a T2i instead, which has even better features! And really I'm not at all disappointed at what this camera has to offer.
The camera is very small and light. No weather protection is a little issue and also its not as durable as some of the more expensive SLRs, but it doesn't "feel cheap".The 3-inch LCD (compared to the Rebel XS's 2.5 inch screen) is a bonus and it also has a very high resolution. It looks lovely! Auto-focus is fast, and I've been very pleased with the quality of the pictures and videos I've taken so far.

Problems: I feel that the WB settings on this model isn't as accurate as it should be.
The video quality could've been better.

Opinion: I'm giving it 4 stars because a) I don't use my SLR for video and have no idea why anyone would want to, and b) there are too many wheels, dials, buttons, and options. Full auto, a couple of program modes, then full manual would just about do it for me. And the T2i has that ... along with a lot of other junk.

I would switch to a top-of-the-line Canon SLR, except I have small hands and the T2i fits me better. And, yes, it has most of the manual features I want. And, no, I don't want to spend several thousand dollars.

I'm an old-school, film, prosumer kind of shooter. I use the T2i for general photography with a 28-105mm lens for my day-to-day shooting (this gives me 45-168mm, which is fine). I use a 100mm macro for, well, macro work. I have a separate camera with a 28mm lens if I'm in a wide frame of mind.

Bottom line is the T2i with the 28-105mm is my tool of choice. If only it didn't have all those **** buttons!

Opinion: I use this camera mainly for portraits shot with studio flash, but I have used it for holiday and party/social shooting as well. I have 40 years of experience as an amateur photographer, so I will boldly say, that this is a fairly informed opinion. I find the 550D very easy to use and the 18MP resolution allows for a fair amount of cropping, when needed.

Problems: The viewfinder shows only 95% of the picture. To get the last 5% one has to buy the 7D at roughly twice the price.

Opinion: Canon have now used the T2i sensor in 4 different cameras, THAT's how good it is.

The only reason to buy a 7D, 600D or 60D is if you need the bigger body or speed & better autofocus or the fold out screen these provide, otherwise the much cheaper T2i 550D has it all.

It's the first crop dslr that matches my 5D for image quality, in a much smaller body.

It's brilliant

Problems: Needs good lenses, the 18-55IS kitl lens just isn't good enough to show what the 550D can do.

Not a great focusing system - really it's a centre-point only camera, but that's the same with most of the non-pro Canons

I find it's much nicer to use with the optional grip attached
