Opinion: This camera produces amazing images, perticularly in low light...
However:
Problems: Battery Life is simply appalling, which is enough for me to have not bought it [i was given it but because of the battery life it hardly ever gets used...]
There's enough juice for maybe 2 or 3 shots before it says its low on power... if you continually take the batteries out between every shot, you maybe get two dozen pics before it completely shuts down and wont even start...
If you can live with it, buy it - if not, or if u think you couldnt, buy something different - there are many cameras out there offering better specs. for the same price... [around £30 on ebay]
Opinion: The strong point of the camera is it's unlimited video with sound.
And it's very cheap. I bought this for $79 about one and a half years ago.
Problems: Bad in-door pictures. Short battery life.
Opinion: A good pocket cam while travelling araound.
Problems: Slow focusing. Short battery life.
Opinion: STILL a great consumer camera .....
Tho, if I had to do it again, I would opt for one with - a smaller form factor, less shutter delay, better battery life.
We've been using this camera for nearly a year. The picture quality has been great! No complaints. We've used the audio and video capture MUCH more than we had originally suspected that we would.
* The camera has held up great, as it is solidly constructed.
* Picture quality is wonderful, especially for the $$$
* Prints up to 8x10 turn out sharp & clear
* Good color rendering
Example Pics on our website: http://randsco.com
(We posted an review here right after we bought the camera, under TUXNUS, but lost the password, so couldn't update it, but thought a review after having the camera for nearly a year would be of value)
Problems: * Chews through batteries too fast
* Shutter delay with autofocus annoying
* To extract audio, we play the audio via "HP Photo Gallery" (click audio icon), which plays thru our default audio player (winAmp ... which we in-turn, use the DiskWriter plug-in to save playback as a WAV file) Easy, once you get the work-flow down.
* Sometimes the center-weighted focus means that an off-center subject isn't in focus. (Must remember to focus FIRST, then compose).
Opinion: My dad bought this camera for my mother last Christmas and it really hasn't seen much use by either of them. I did use it quite a lot before I got my Nikon D70 (a digital SLR, not point-and-shoot), and I still borrow it when I need a compact camera to carry around. Overall, its not a bad camera, but I think there are much better models in its class. Image quality is okay, with average sharpness, color rendition, and detail. Images are nearly always very low in contrast and sometimes its auto exposure is way way off but othertimes its good. The biggest drawbacks to this camera is that it's bulky and slow. Start up is slow, focusing is slow, taking the picture is slow, writing the picture is really slow. I find it really frusterating sometimes. This is an okay camera for simple tasks -- portraits of patient people, still life images, etc but it is just awful when it comes to taking pictures of anything that moves, such as sports, animals, young children, etc. You'll miss a lot if you use this camera in any situation that requires some sort of quick response. On a postive note, I have taken some absolutely excellent pictures using the macro mode on this camera. However the macro shots (close ups) have a very shallow DOF (depth of field) which cannot be controled because this camera is all automatic. Macro mode also is very picky about focusing distance and of course won't AF if there are no constrasting lines in the picture (I find that if you focus on something sharp and hold down the shutter halfway and then move to what you want to take the picture of, you can take a very sharp picture by looking at the LCD screen until the subject is sharp in the frame).
Pros:
--> ability to produce very sharp photos in macro mode
--> night mode works well to get background detail in dark photos or to take photos with supplemental lighting without harsh flash shadows
--> self timer and video modes are nice features
--> sturdy construction
--> easy to use -- there really isn't much to get lost with
Cons:
--> very VERY slow --- slow shutter, slow AF, slow picture, slow write time
--> image quality could be better -- usually low contrast and bright reds and magentas are over saturated with little detail
--> white balance isn't the best, but much better than conventional film
--> produces a lot of noise at ISO 400 in low light conditions
--> heavy camera, not something you want to carry around in your purse
--> low low battery life, maybe it doesnt completely charge or something but sometimes this baby dies after just 20 photos or so
--> extremely low constrast in images where digital zoom is used (digital zoom is junk, IMO no camera should ever have it)
--> pre flash when shooting flash pictures is really bright and timed very close to the actual flash -- some digital cameras have no pre flash and others have one about a second before the actual flash, but the preflash on this camera is timed very close to the actual flash -- the end result is that my eyes are closed in half the pictures (please note that my friends eyes seem fine and my eyes are open in all the other pictures... it just has to do with my individual sensitivity to the preflash light... but its good to factor in incase you or someone you plan on photographing a lot reacts like me to this camera)
Problems: None.
Opinion: I have owned this camera for just over a year now, and have yet to be impressed by it. Taking generally modest pictures, I've found that after the short length of time I've owned it for, it seems to have ceased to function properly. Now, one out of every five pictures turns out decently, and the rest are so blury you can make out who someone is, for example, but you could never make out any of their more minute facial features (nose stud, eye color). This camera was a gift, and for a year it did alright, but I am most definitely updating before I take my trip to Germany!
Problems: The battery life on this machine is horrendous-- even when functioning properly I had to carry around a whole pocketful of batteries if I was going out for the night.
The LCD takes a while to load the pictures, not to mention that when it does, they are a LOT different on your PC.
Response time is SLOW. Infinite amounts of pictures were missed because I would depress the button and sit and wait for action.
Opinion: Best buy
Problems: Only Battery
Opinion: This is a good digital camera. The only thing I don;t like the
poor quality of AVI and does not supports multiple profiles
Opinion: First, sorry for my english. I think this is a great camera. The images indoor and outdoor are great!
Problems: I don´t like the command to magnify the pictures. you have only up and down command.
