Opinion: I have had this camera for 2 years now and just passed 3000 shots with it. For a point and shoot pocket camera it is a nice little unit. I've blown up several shots to 8x10 and the quality was quite good. I am impressed with the autofocus capability in very low light conditions. My major complaint is the slow cycle time while the camera writes data to the memory card - even with today's fast cards. Red Eye can be a problem with this unit but I would actually expect that when the flash is so close to the lens. But, there is lots of software available to clean up Red Eye. Battery life is a problem but a small investment in rechargeable Ni-MH batteries fixes that. I still bring this camera along on trips with my SLR and Video units and am overall please with its performance.
Problems: Occansionally the lens clam-shell cover does not close completely.
Opinion: This camera was recommended to me. I've had it for 1.5 years and used
it about 5 times, three times to practice, and twice for trips. The door to
the card portal broke the first time I used it to insert a new card. It took
12, yes 12 batteries for a day of walking through New York City, and on
another trip to an antebllum home, I was able to take 6 pictures before
the fully charged batteries were zapped. This camera is a sore
diappointment as my first digital camera.
Problems: Zaps batteries in about 6 shots, cover over card won't stay shut.
Opinion: Very good photos if you learn how to use this camera. Look for a good ambient light because the flash just sucks. I did 2000 photos with this HP 935 and still running ok. Batteries - rechargeable 2500 mA - NiMh is a must.
Problems: - slow !!
- low quality on flash and white balance. You need a good ambient light.
- noisy microphone you can't capture video's sounds. About movie - forget it !
Opinion: Never buy an HP photosmart product !!
Very good photos, big problem with batteries in night shots with flash, noisy microphone you can't capture video's sounds.
Problems: After 17months having this camera i discovered that they don't offer service!!!
In August 19, after i took many night photos my camera automatically closed because batteries depleted. Next morning i loaded new batteries and tryed to open the camera. I discovered that the camere was working but the lans was not deploying. All the other fuctions are working (com with pc, lcd display etc).
I contacted with HP in Greece and they told me that they don't have service, they will send my camera somewhere in Europe and they will give me back another HP935 from previous service in price of 180 Euros !!!
I bought it before 17months 240 Euros and today you can buy a new one almost in 200 euros!!
Probably my camera could have o big problem, or a small one. Maybe something prevents the lens to extend and may need only a half of hour work to make it work. Not to ask me to pay 180Euros without check my camera!
Check previous posts, someone else had the same problem.
Never buy an HP photosmart product !!
Opinion: I have this camera for year and a half now. It has been serving me quite well, but I think it doesn't meet my requirements any more. I can't say it is a very good camera. LCD is pretty small. A lot of time I was not being able to use live view on LCD because batteries must be almost full to use this feature. The possible image sizes are only 1M or 5M pixels and nothing in between. I don't know why is digital zoom good for. I can always crop the picture on the computer better than with digital zoom.
Problems: First the microphone was very noisy and HP gave me the new camera in warranty time. Now when warranty expired speaker on the camera broke. I am not willing to repair it. I will rather buy another camera and it will not be HP.
Opinion: I now own 2 of these since I wanted a back-up and my first one is over 2 yrs old (& dented, tired from having shot over 5500 shots and on it's last leg).
A very good family camera. This is a very simple camera to use, with great images for print as long as you are not seeking to do professional photography with it. Excellent hobbyist, family and office camera. Well worth the money they ask. Some 8x10's print nice enough even for the pickiest person.

Problems: 1: Batteries, batteries and batteries! I keep a ton of rechargable NimH's with me every where I go. If I am going to go somewhere where the shots REALLY matter, I will even spend the $10 for a pack of 4 lithiums. Two will last most of the day with on and off usage. However, I have seen this camera ACT like it drains two new batteries within an hour of much usage. When the meter shows a battery is dead, turn off your camera for a few minutes. The charge usually comes back. I found this with both of mine.
2: Slow! This is one of the slowest cameras around. If you are walking on a nature trail and see a bird you wish to photograph, the time it takes from turn on to focus can be surprisingly long. The site here says 4.5 seconds just to turn it on. But, if you wish to manually set the ISO (as it defaults to Auto everytime you turn it off) and then zoom in, it could take over 10 seconds to take that first shot. Then there is lag time between shots. Friends have laughed at my blue skies, as it FINALLY takes the shot after the birds have flown away.
3: "Macro"(close-up focus) is iffy. If there is not enough contrast, you will get error messages saying that it is too close to focus or unable to focus. As you back up bit by bit by bit, it can then go straight into 'too far' to focus. Very maddeining, especially on the shots that appear to have suficient contrast. Then, it will surprise you and let you get right up on something that would appear more difficult, and let you get a beautiful shot on the first attempt.
4: Noise. Several camera sites put the noise levels for this model at "above normal" for cameras in it's class and I believe them. Although MOST PERSONS WILL NOT NOTICE OR CARE, professional photographers will and Noise Nija and Neat Image are not sufficient to offset it. It is that bad. Even with a manual 100 ISO setting, tripod and the best of conditions (no large masses of solid colors, etc) you will have noise to contend with at 100% of image.
5: I use this camera daily (and have for over a year). I found that I do get soft corners more often than I would prefer in ONE of my two HP's. In fact, I have gotten used to editing out corners to offset this when it occurs. (Not a big deal really) It might have been dropped one too many times. *blush*
Opinion: I was looking many months for a digital camera, but my budget was low.
Many friends and other people was saying that i had to prefer a traditional photo maker and not electronics companies, as the lens is one of the most important parts in the digital camera.
Just before 3 weeks they made a special offer in Greece and they sell the 935 about 260 euros and it was a big dillema ! So after reading many reviews asking friends i decided to buy the HP935.
I have to say that is a very fair puschase and it takes perfect photos!!!
I'm not an expert photographer and i'm not using (at the moment) all the manual fuctions that this camera has, but with the auto settings i very satisfied with the result.
Somebody said that it needs 15secs to store a picture.
Take care! Yes it needs this time to store the picture, BUT in this time you can shot another and another picture. You DON'T have to wait to save the previous photo.
About my 4 points in construction, even the camera is in a plastic box, when it dropped down to the road there was not a problem not cracked.
If you are not a Pro-photographer and you want a compact portable solution, you can buy it with an extra memory (i have 128mb) and an extra portable battery charger.
Opinion: The camera is an excellent bargain for a 5+ MP camera. it has a good amount of features in it like manual exposure control. it gives a lot of opprtunity to experiment. the image quality is excellent at 5 MP. I havent taken out prints yet, so i dont know abt that. Theres also a very helpful on-screen menu thats explains the features to the point.
theres a slight delay between the picture appearing on the screen and the click of the shutter. also the display is not able to keep up with motion picture. sometimes it gets stuck at one frame and takes time to move again. the software supplied is a general software with not much image editing and enhancement options.
over all its a good deal for a beginner photographer who wants a decent camera to experiment with.
Problems: consumes way too much battery way too fast. so its advisable to use photo-lithium or rechargable NiMh batteries. sometimes the zoom mechanism makes a rather bad noise which sounds like something getting stuck somewhere and then being pulled out. need to be very careful when you use digital zoom. so the use of a tripod is a must while using digital zoom.
Opinion: I have the camera for some weeks now,and I must say.
The camera produce verry good pictures.
Exelent color great black and white good sky scenes.
verry sharp pictures and exelent color gradient no blue cast of any color gray is gray.Exelent hp.
