Opinion: Wide ngle zoom lens makes old Kodak appealing-the DC210 is that and more with a great wide-angle lens-29mm wide and has the great Kodak image colors and quality.
Problems: Only serial connection-I use a card reader to transfer images.
Opinion: I have had this camera for several years now and have taken thousands of pictures under a wide variety of conditions.
It has been very reliable and takes average quality pictures. Lots of photos can be taken on one charge of the 4 AA batteries.
Great camera for someone who wants to get into digital photography on the cheap!
Problems: none
Opinion: The serial cable that comes with this camera is the worst thing about it, and it's bad. Attempted to move photos from the camera to my PC a few times and since it's a serial connection, it's slow. . . 1 bit at a time. I have since purchased a USB card reader for $20 that completely elliminated that issue. The camera itself has been dropped several times and is none the worse for wear. All the pictures I've taken with it have turned out very well. I have even taken pictures of prints under a standard 60W bulb without using the flash that have turned out pretty well for the limited amount of light available.
Opinion: This was my very first digital camera. It was then, a good machine. the 1 Mpix was not a killer but then again, at the time it was a good value. The color was real good VS all of the others at the time. Perfect res for web sites then and now.
I sold the thing to a web site artist for 150.00
As far as I know, it's still running.
Problems: never had a problem in 3 years.
Opinion: kodak dc 210 good pictures easy to use out doors excellent indoors ok sofeware came with 210 plus slow tranfs. from camera to computer.
Problems: battery door bracks off on the inside replace it metal plastic and pin small get a shoe lace going inside pin.
Opinion: Trusting the name KODAK, I bought this camera ($800 or so) when it first came out. It stopped working four times during the first year, and I had to give it up for 2-3 weeks each time while they repaired it under warranty. The last time they sent me a completely new (refurbished) camera, with a 30-day warranty.
A week after that warranty expired, the new one stopped working completely. I have to admit they were nice enough to offer to repair it. They returned it (still not working properly -- but at least working) and would not fix it free after that time. I used it (still not working correctly) for another year, and it firf altogether.
I will NEVER buy another Kodak product.
Opinion: The best one I've ever had.
Problems: Not any.
Opinion: After 3 years and 1000’s of shots, I still like this solid camera. I like the extra wide angle shots the 210 can take. It came with AC adapter and I thought I’d need it but hardly use it. I bought 2 sets of NiMH AA batteries in 98 and am still using them today. I get about 100 shots from one set of batteries. Though I have printed some of the images on 8.5 X11 photo paper that looked good, I use the DC210 mostly for web pages. It still functions flawlessly. I still use the serial cable for transfers and that is painfully slow. I was still using Windows 3.1 when I bought this camera and Kodak does not make transfer software. I had to use a DOS application for transfers for some months.
Problems: Since the lens is fixed focus shots are always almost always "sharp". Shots of bright distant scenes come in less clear than I would like. It takes several seconds to load the image onto the card and you cannot take another image till that is done.
Opinion: I've used this camera for over 4 years, on over 3 continents, with 2 sets of rechargable batteries, and 1 original Kodak flashcard and I've got to say it's worth every 60,000 pennies spent on it!! Very easy to operate, very sturdy and something I carry around with me and use every day, one of my prized possessions. Coupled with a USB card reader, you can transfer pics in a jiffy!! Although I feel like getting a new digicam these days, I feel like I owe it to my trusty DC210 to use it until it totally falls apart...... Hmmm... wonder what the digicams will be like in 2050 ??? :)
Problems: Unfortunately the LCD screen konked out on my last year and I couldn't be bothered to fix it as it was going to cost as much as a new camera. That is one reason why I had to get the USB card reader because with the screen going "kapoot" - so did the file transfering function. Which was a blessing in disguise because transfering pics over a serial port is painfully slow. >:) Other than that and the fact that in order to turn it on I have to turn the dial to Review, wait half a second, and then turn it back to Capture, I have had no problems with the camera.
