Opinion: I researched and purchased this little camera for an elderly couple in their 80's. They asked me to find an easy to use camera- this is definitely it. This camera is very bland, hardly any features at all, and extremely simple to use. If used in a normal situation with a house full of guests and plenty of light, it works excellent, pictures are clear. When you push the button to take a picture, the shutter reacts instantly, no delay at all. The zoom button is a little awkward and not ergonomically located. In low light situations the camera does not focus well since it doesn't have the usual infrared focusing light. The menus are extremely simple, not a lot of options at all.
Opinion: Pretty good camera for a beginner but after getting it for Christmas, only 6 months later (July 3rd) the camera is already screwing up.
I like the features and ease of use but didn't like using the Kodak program to connect to the computer to download my pictures and videos. I use a card reader instead of buying the base because it is expensive and I thought the camera itself was all I needed.
The Kodak program doesn't save a setting of destination so every single time I have to re-find the spot I always save my pictures to .. so that is annoying as well.
Problems: This is actually the 2nd time in the last 6 months (I got this camera for Christmas so I have only had this camera for 6 months) that I have encountered a problem but the first problem I figured was just a glitch. Today however when I was taking pictures it suddenly was stuck on snapping pictures so often that it didn't even give the camera time to focus. I was forced to have to hit the power button on the camera and that ended my picture taking for the time being.
I am disappointed that this camera lasted such a short time. Since it was a gift I do NOT have a receipt so I don't know what I can do about it.
I would rather go with a different brand but as a gift I love it as it is 10.3 Mega Pixels and my last one was 1.3 only! I would have been happy with 3.2 but this one also does great videos so I am pretty happy with that. I just am not happy with how it glitches and how Kodak takes over my computer. I would rather just use Windows default program that starts when you plug in usb and just look through the directory and move over the files I want. But that is okay the way I am doing it right now.
I just hope that this camera won't become unusable .. glitches are bad enough..
