Opinion: I love this camera. My friend has the coolpix 2500 and really enjoyed the design and picture quality of it. I couldn't wait until the coolpix 3500 came out. Although the only difference was the upgrade to 3.2MP resolution. I have noticed a significant difference in picture quality. It was what this camera needed. I used to think anything above 2MP was gravy but I now believe improvements can be made on already seemingly perfect camera. Macros are the best I've ever seen. Excellent job Nikon.

Problems: No case. Note: Buy a case, the veiw screen scratches easily. No sound on video.

Opinion: This camera makes me forgive Nikon. They've made a huge mistake with the D1. that's the most expensive Nikon i've ever bought, yet it's the worst built.
I bought the Coolpix 3500 last month, I think it's the best digital camera money for the price. I bought it for under 250 USD in my country (indonesia). The image sharpness is good, u use it in good lighting.
Features are ok.
and it's really cute.

Problems: A way to attach lens attachment will be a nice thing. and no Optical viewfinder? and the battery life is so so short...
oh yes, it's an inexpensive camera, eh.
The Flash is almost useless:. 1.the GN is so small. 2. Red Eye effect occure almost everytime u use flash indoors (the flash sit so close to lens .3. and this also creat one more problem : white speckles all over the image.

Opinion: I just brought one last week, around USD370 in my country Malaysia, during year-end sales, with 2 battery, case, one 16MB FC, and additional 32MB FC.

I like the camera becuase it is very friendly to a beginner like myself.

I read the manual page by page and try the mode 1 by 1, and 2 hours later, I able to take picture, which appears to my expectation, except [beach/snow] mode, cause not in those area to try it out yet.

my wife too find it friendly, cause it only take 30 minute of knowledge transfer from myself to her.

moving picture from camera to my PC is much more easier then I thought, maybe because I am having some IT background.

overall : is friendly and is value for money.

Problems: 2 fully charged battery only last for a few hour, hopefully nikon can come out with more long lasting battery.

Opinion: Maybe this is the price one pays for being an early adopter. See problems.

Problems: I had high hopes for this my first digital camera. Unfortunately, I got one that was defective. Many pictures had a strong magenta cast and several had speckles.

Returned it and plan to pick up a Canon S45 next week.
