Opinion: I have some 20 cameras. But when I projected 1 picture in a restaurant some 30
people came over to see. One Chinese guy crossed the whole restaurant -- some
100 feet -- to ask what brand that was and was very excited. People were looking,
asking. It was weird. It was like instant unwanted attention. I felt like a movie
star, bothered by strangers.

The camera itself is average in many respects, but the projection (in a dark
restaurant) is excellent and attention drawing.

If you crave attention, if you want strangers to hound you, if you want to demo, to
explain, to sell cameras for Nikon, if you want wows and ahhs and "take my
picture" requests from strangers go ahead and spend the $ 430.

I was embarrassed and afraid to do it again, and even returned the camera. I'm
sure it will be $ 250 soon.

I always thought a little attention would be fun but I found my family was freaked
out when I spent the night talking to strangers.

Problems: Too much attention. Changes the night into a "projectionists dream." and you can't
like give the camera to strangers so that they drop it.

Opinion: Photographs from this new camera are spectacular. The vibrant colors, clarity, and depth of focus are amazing. Skintones are lovely and natural. Camera is comfortable to hold and easy to use, with a quickly-mastered scheme for selecting functions. View screen is large and bright. I have owned several digital cameras since 1995 (Casio, Olympus, and Canon) liking each in its turn. I love my new Nikon.

Problems: Zoom is very fast, sometimes requiring back and forth action to finetune. I think that added experience might make this a plus rather than a problem.
