Opinion: shoots great images right out of the box. once you figure out all the available controls the images get even better.
Opinion: Good choice for the money. Most users probably wont use the max mp capability. Need the high dpi printer for great enlargements.Happy with my fast lens choice. Would go for the 3040 if money not an object, just to have that extra mp capability, altough I don't think it's necessary.
Problems: . Need to really study the manual to get the most from the capabilities. Had some problems using with Camedia software with this model, required calls to Olym.
Opinion: I had the C-2040 for two days and boy! what a dissapointment! This camera is just a D940Z with a better lens, the color rendition, very poor. Although I DID read the manual, all pictures I took, under several ambients (bright outside, cloudy, inside, with flash, without flash etc, etc) were "greenish". I tried to adjust the white balance using all menus but the results were the same. There are ways to give more or less red or blue, but no way to cut the green down. I assume that something in the way Olympus process the color filtering has changed since the D400Z days, because I compared the pictures from both cameras side by side and my old and decrepit D400 beat the C-2040 every step of the way. I realize that the C2040 should be a better camera as far as lens and features but if you are concerned with the final product, which is the pictures you are going to print or use on the Net, etc. you should be careful and examine the COLOR RENDITION of the C2040 very closely. Needless to say the camera went back today...
Problems: 1.-No matter what you do adjusting the white balance, manual or AUTO, the pictures come out "greenish". Bad color rendition.
2.-The camera is very suceptible to SCRATCHES!
3.-Real DUMB lens cup.
4.-Boy, you are giong to spend money on batteries. If you use regular alkaline, you'll need 4 new batt. every 100 pics or so, you better buy rechargables, or the expensive CV3's
The movie mode is a battery eater, and the movies are not that good any way.
Opinion: it's a good digital camera
althought i am beginner but i feel its really good!!
