Opinion: Very impressed with this camera. Bought it as a travel or backpacking camera and could not be more impressed with the results, the delivered image quality under many different conditions.

it gives clear, sharp results, and that's what I am always after in any camera

Opinion: I have a D80 and a G10 and a friend with a FX37, the FX65 seems to replace the still in production FX37. So ordered a FX65. I like the small size, very wide angle capability and large image viewer. It easily goes into a shirt pocket.

Problems: My first session was very disappointing. Flash pictues against a background. The picture quality was not in the ball park of my G10. If you get this camera and are taking pictues of people you will need to fill the frame fully with a group shot of 3-5 people. No head to toe pictures as the image quality even at iso 80 just comes apart. This caused me to test my D-80 and G10. In order of image quality the winner is G10, then D80 (18-135mm), and a distant 3rd for the FX65. I am discussing returning this camera as possibly defective with the supplier. If the supplier replaces the camera I will report further testing.

Ok, Be Advised. The final blow today after talking to Panasonic support is that the FX 65 as well as FX 37 are not under US Warranty or support so please take this into consideration when you buy.

Opinion: This camera is what it is supposed to be. Everyone can read the specs for
themselves and decide if it would suit their needs.

I have an LX-3 which I think is great but I wanted a compact with a wide, fast
lens. The LX-65 has a rubbery cover which helps you keep a confident grip on a
pretty small object. Image quality is very good as far as I'm concerned. As a former
Tri-X user I'm not a pixel peeper.

It has Panasonic's new. improved, faster focus and I would say that it works well.
Focus is fast and accurate. Shutter lag is my big bugaboo. The LX-65 has the least
lag of any compact I've used so far. Exposure is consistently good. No manual
controls aside from exposure compensation but it has some nice things like auto
bracketing and good white balance options. The "quick-menu" access function is
handy. iA mode can provide no-brain-required pictures but I usually use "Normal"
mode with the flash
off.

The "Clipboard" mode, which is present on other Lumix models I've owned, is very
handy for taking picture memos (clipboard pictures are stored in the onboard
memory). I use it all the time.

Some might consider it a bit expensive but the size, wide lens and stylin' design are
compensation. I had been on the verge of buying one then found it at a
promotional price ($80 off) which included an extra battery. At that point I had no
hesitation in pulling out my wallet. It's pocketable, wide, fast and sharp. Pretty
much exactly what I wanted. Ymmv.

Problems: It has the usual flimsy battery compartment door, but honestly, I've never broken one
off of any camera yet and unless you walk around with it hanging open you won't
either.

It won't zoom while shooting video but you can't have everything.
