Opinion: I own this camera and I am delighted with it.... It is not difficult to work and includes EVERYTHING that I need to take brilliant pictures.

Problems: I have no problems with this camera.

Opinion: I bought this camera last month.
I was skeptical about superzooms, but I needed one to photograph my 5year-old twins while playing and running without being noticed.
The Panny is fantastic: responsive, pics full of detail, no barrel distortion at wide angle, no purple fringing, good HD movies, long battery life.
OK, at higher ISO (800 and above) not as good as my old FujiF31, but you can't expect miracles from a sensor so tiny.
It's a pity that price of the last ones available on market is rapidly rising

Problems: Slow focusing at tele end of the zoom in low light, not a big problem...

Opinion: Primarily use Nikon DSLR's and wanted a replacement
for my carry-around TZ5...(that was a great camera
but couldn't get used to no viewfinder and problems in
bright light on the screen etc)

Amazed at the speed of the FZ38....almost no shutter
lag which I could not tolerate....scored heavily there
for me.

Image quality I think is excellent bearing in mind this is
NOT a DSLR and a bridge camera offering a range of
facilities and convenience I do not have on my DSLRs
(D40...D70....D300)

I tested yesterday in good sunlight and was delighted
with IQ and the zoom....because camera is very light (a
bonus for carrying) you do have to be aware of being
steady when on 18X zoom....lean up against
something for support.

I found the OIS superb....really effective and surprised
at how low a shutter speed can be....excellent.

I am acutely aware that like other p&s or bridge
cameras, this will not perform like a DSLr in poor light
and appreciate under those circumstances it will be
sensible to use one of the Nikons....However, for what
you get, at such a good price ...it is hard to beat.

Have not tried the hi-def video yet but if it is as good
as on the TZ5....I will not be disappointed....again,
bearing in mind it is NOT a HD camcorder, but a tool
which is embracing a wide range of facilities and tools in
one machine.

No doubt will be able to update review as I use the
camera more......

In the meantime....totally satisfied and excellent results
straight out of camera.

Problems: None, other than getting used to the enormous reach of
the lens.

I really wonder how well people manage 26X and 30X
zooms......!!!

Opinion: My previous camera was the Fujifilm Finepix S1500, & the Panasonic Lumix FZ35 is miles ahead in speed, features, & image quality. I've had it for almost a week, & my first batch of pictures with this camera are very good, with the exception of a few that appeared a bit blurry, but any experienced photographer will tell you this is a normal occurance. As with any point & shoot camera, it's just a matter of steady hands & feeling your way around the settings to get the best quality pictures possible. There are many features that I like about this camera, most notably the speed. It focuses & shoots much quicker than the S1500, so you're less likely to miss those spare-of-the-moment shots. Since I frequently photograph birds, the speed comes in handy.... I still need to practice more, but I think the FZ35 is the best camera I've owned so far!

Problems: A significant amount of "noise" in the image when using the extended zoom.

Holding my hands steady! The longer lens tends to cause extra hand-shake, plus the downward movement when I press the shutter button, but that's just something I need to get a handle on(no pun intended).

Opinion: I enjoy using the Panasonic FZ-35. It has a learning curve, but I've been perfectly happy with the PQ. Any bad shots I've taken were likely due to inexperience.

Problems: The battery / SD card slot makes a squeaky sound while pressing it with the palm of the hand - unavoidable if you want to hold the camera properly.

Opinion: The FZ-38 take great pictures,as long you stay at low iso.
After downloading pictures from every long zoom dat is avviable to day,My choise felt for the FZ-38

The canons produce to mush CA,and light fall off.
P100 base iso at 150 Iso,nikon think it is an dslr lol
in other words this is the only camera, thad produce great pictures in the long zoom range.

Starting at 27 Mm is great, and have 18 X zoom is greater.
and the best part is,the pictures thad come out of this camera are great, even in bad wether,Exposure is 99% on top.
I have alot of camera's D90,D5000,LX3,G11 and so one.
and realy this is an nice camera, light, great batterie live, good zoom, have raw and JPG together.

in low light the camera work fast to,however the viewfinder get an bit noisy, but nothing dramatic.
Everything you need is there.

Problems: No problems as to today :)

Opinion: I fully agree with other friends in this forum. Cheap, complete, light, fast, full of features, producing excellent images, movies and colours, I find it unsurpassed at present among non-interchangeable lens digital camera. See my Tips and Tests in "Joe's FZ35 webpage".

Problems: 1) Visible noise in dark areas of the picture, especially under ISO 400 or greater. If (like me) you later reduce most pictures to 1600x1200 or so for onscreen viewing, this issue is automatically resolved. Otherwise it is easy to fix using the appropriate noise-reduction filters in photo-editing software.

2) In architecture photography some barrel/pincushion distortion is observed. This is inevitable in a low-price 18X zoom even when software-corrected, and the serious photographer can easily fix it with photo-editing software.

3) The camera has some partial "user modes", but if you changed many settings for a peculiar photo season, the only way to revert to "normal" is to revert the camera to factory default. I would have liked a special function (found in a few other cameras) whereby the user can store his own full set of default settings.

4) The camera has many features, often offering "more than one way to skin a cat". Though it can be successfully used in automated modes out of the box, it requires some learning and practice to appreciate its possibilities.

Opinion: Great camera. takes excellent clear, crisp photos. Video is very good quality. Light in weight and a great feel in the hand. Love the quick focus when zooming. Overall a worthwhile buy and will suit my needs perfectly.

Problems: Reverse lens hood would be advantage.

Opinion: Just perfect for me that don't want carry a lot of equipments to take some pictures. And the zoom is magnific powerful.

Problems: Some difficult with HD movie. If don't have the right programs you can't transfer to PC.
