Opinion: We got this camera to replace my 35mm point and shoot.
The value for the money is excellent, good contruction and ergonomics, nice image quality.
Swiveling display, histogram shown in display, nice modes.

Problems: Uses batteries like popcorn, about 30-40 picutres is all they last (with the display on)
Connectivity with Win98 was a bit difficult, but it uses default USB mass storage drivers, which I installed and the camera acts like and external "drive" now.

Opinion: -good build quality camera with good images.
-good working autofocus when you have enough contrast.
-easy-deesee is a joy to have by this camera.
-(digital) filters are nice.

Problems: -not very fast after you take the picture, the processing to the sensor is (too) slow.
-low contrast problems with the autofocus.

Opinion: I bought this camera because of its swivelling LCD, which was indispensable for photographing pages from 500-year-old manuscripts in musty archives (which my wife does for her research). I have used Pentax SLRs for years, but brand loyalty wasn't a factor--one needs to spend about $600 to buy the next-cheapest camera with a swivelling LCD!

Good points: Compact; solid construction; easy to use; swivelling LCD.

Weak points: LCD is very hard to see in cloudy-bright or brighter conditions, even with the supplied hood in place. The LCD helpfully tells what the shutter speed and aperture are, but there is no way to modify them, and the picture modes supplied don't include things like "action" (for high speed/wide aperture) or "scenery" (for low speed/small aperture) that might help. The lag between pressing the shutter release and the shutter firing is very long, so that pictures of moving subjects are difficult (the "critical moment" had better be l-o-n-g!).

Conclusion: If we hadn't needed the swivelling LCD, we would have gotten a camera allowing more control.

Opinion: This is a great camera for this price! It has a lot of modes, erally nice lenses, powerful flash and a nifty display which you can find only on expensive cameras from other brands.
I don't know why people who have problems with THEIR units in particular leave negative ratings here - it's not about complaining about what you got but about rating the product.

Problems: No problems - connects to PC without any additional drivers (like a removeable drive), and works with Win Me too.
New firmware is available!

Opinion: Problem with Camera

Problems: This is my first digital camera. I have used a number of different types for work, so I kind of knew what I was looking for and I thought I made a great choice at first. The usability of the camera and the 3x optical zoom are great, but I have had 2 major problems with the camera, and I'm going to either ask for a replacement (hoping I just got a lemon) or a refund and buy something else.

The camera has never been able to actually connect to my computer with the USB cable. I have windows XP, and this should be a plug and play device, but it won't connect properly. I tried it on a friend's XP machine and it wouldn't work there either.

Then, I had a major problem. When I turned the camera on, the lens started to come out like normal, but then the camera suddenly started making an ugly buzzing noise. After a few seconds the buzzing noise stopped and the camera shut down. It is currently sent away for repair, but based on the problems I've had so far, I don't think I want this particular camera back. I hope it's just a lemon, because I really liked the camera otherwise, especially the flip-out screen.

Opinion: A little warning ...

Problems: You can't download images from this camera unless you have Windows Me, 2000 or XP. Forget win98. I know Win98 is 6 years old now, but this will affect quite a few people still.

It seems the only way around it is to avoid using the internal memory, but to use SD or MMC memory and a card reader instead.

Opinion: This is my 4th Digital Camera... I have used Olympus 4040, Fuji S602Z, Canon S230? (my brother's) and the new Pentax Optio 33LF. Main purpose of this camera is to take snap shots at social gatherings. And so far I am very happy with output that this camera produces. To my surprise, auto white balance seems to work better than my S602Z. However there are little more visible noise than any other camera I own. Like other reviewers mentioned, I am really enjoying the unique features not found in this price range such as swirlving LCD and easy and fast camera operations. Buttons are well placed out and slide feature for reviewing adds definate 'fun' factor.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and I recommend this camara to anyone who wants to take a good quality pictures for web sharing and maybe even small prints.

Problems: here's some minor complaints....

Rubber Piece covering usb connector seems like it's not going to survive 6months... becoming loose already after 4days of use..

plastic body... feels like I am holding a toy camera sometimes.. should be okay as long as I don't drop it.

Included software (ACDSee) says I have the invalid serial number that it refused to install.. well?
