Opinion: I bought this camera to replace my stolen Panasonic Lumix FX2. Important for me were weight, slimness and zoom range. Having had it for nearly 6 months now I can say I'm very pleased indeed. Fot me the most surprising thing was the image quality which I could never achieve with the Lumix which under or over exposed so many pictures as well as very bad colour representation.
The bad points (although I'd still buy this camera again or the P80 if it were stolen) are: Video is a little too shaky at 1280x720, Image storage slow although you get used to it (preferably slow and good quality than...), LCD difficult to see bright sunlight,

Problems: Can't switch off autofocus audio response

Opinion: Please I would like to know from an owner of this camera an issue.
Normally when you connect a digital camera to a TV display you can see the pictures taken with the camera in play mode.
Some cameras allos also you to see in the TV the image displayed in the camera LCD in real time during you are shooting pictures.
Someone can tell me if the P70 allows you to display the image in real time while the camera is shooting pictures, I mean can you take pictures using the TV as a display?
Thank you

Opinion: I loved the size, beautiful white sleekness, the fact that it fit in my pocket.

seemed to be slow, especially since I usually use a small Leica D-Lux 3........... but wanted a "tiny" inexpensive camera to take to Jamaica.
I sent the Pentax back in 12 hours.

Problems: Big problem with next shot time. It actually took 3-5 seconds for the camera to finish storing data in the data base before it was ready for another shot.
Very disappointed. I really wanted that camera.

Ho hum...... still searching.

Opinion: Checked this out for my wife. Beautiful design in piano white. Slim and attractive. Faster than previous models. Good price. Excellent menu and ease of use. Picture is as good as any at this price range. Don't expect too much and you'll be happy.

Problems: HD video practically a lie. Get extended warranty, Pentax cameras break after 1,5 years like no tomorrow.

Opinion: If you are in the market for a capable but portable and easy to use camera, let this
the one that attracts your attention first: it has a wide angle zoom with sensor shift
image stabilisation system, knows HD movie (although at 15 fps rate), has an
excellent IQ and is all in all straight forward to use.

Pentax has given its' latest Optio all the attention in the image quality department
and the output of this little camera is, given it's price tag and 12 MP sensor, simply
stunning. IQ is simply as good as (if not better) than the Fuji F100, which should
say sth. Even at ISO 1600, pictures are nicely sharp with nothing that hints at
excessive noise or excessive noise reduction. They did a brilliant job in that
department, the fellows of Pentax.

It comes with a downgrade though: while the camera is quite snappy at taking
pictures (AF is a lot faste than previous Optio's and the time lag is reduced to a
minimum, it takes it time writing the images (presumably to process the best IQ
possible), which can be annoying at times. Just put the camera in continuous
shooting and it shouldn't be too much a problem.

The other downside is the LCD: it's not high resolution and can sometimes be hard
to see in harsh sunlight...

+ Image quality best in its' class
+ easy to use
+ fast

- writing images to the memory card takes its' time
- LCD not too good
- no manual controls

Problems: None
