More of a lifestyle camera, the waterproof WS80 it is not quite as resilient as its sister model, the W80 (though is still certified to depths of up to 1.5 meters for two hours). The 10MP camera features a Super Protect coating on its 35-175mm zoom lens. It also has a 2.7 inch LCD and offers interval shooting, HD video recording and a digital panorama mode.

Opinion: Camera is easy to operate, takes consistantly great photos and is fast!
Problems: nONE
Opinion: Do not buy Pentax Optio WS80, horrible image quality!
This camera has a high noise level on every image you
take, no matter the ISO settings you change.
Even the claimed HD video is terrible, it has so much grain
and noise you will be surprised.
I've used now about five compact cameras from different
brands for the last ten years, this one is a huge step back,
it's a complete flaw!
Problems: Short battery life, you need to charge it every day,
even if you don't use it too much!
Images with horrible noise with any ISO setting, it's
impossible to get the picture look good in any
conditions of light or even programmed or auto
settings.
No HD video - if you call a crappy stream of noise a HD
movie, well, Pentax, you must be joking.
There seems to be a serious problem with these WS80
cameras, the images are so bad it reminds me of 2002
when my Mustek gSmart took even better images with
2Mpix sensor!
Opinion: Pentax Optio WS80 an excellent all around compact camera, I got it for a feature it has, but it is a great little camera. Got it for it's ability to do time-lapse, but the weight, brilliant photos, and water-prrof, dust-proof, sand-proof feature makes this a keeper. Got a second one for a family member too.
Problems: Color rendition, I haven't played yet with all the settings, but out of the bok, yellows are a bit more brilliant than real life. That's it, the only thing that bugged me.
