Latest version of Ricoh's slimline big zoom cameras, the CX1 puts a new generation 9 megapixel CMOS sensor in a R10-like body offering a 28-200mm equivalent zoom range and increasing the screen resolution to 920,000 dots (unusually good for a compact camera). The new sensor allows high-speed continuous shooting (up to 120 frames per second at 640x480 pixel resolution), and offers increased dynamic range by taking two pictures at different exposure settings in rapid succession.

Opinion: The Ricoh CX1 is a well build camera. It fits nicely in my
hands. In the DR mode, the images came out very
good without any post processing done to them. I
shot 211 images and the battery still shown that it
was fully charge. In low light situation, the images
came out looking good, not perfect, but real good. I
took several low light shots at 1/10 sec and the image
look good with the naked eye. I find that the lens
zoom too fast for me. I need to practice to zoom a
little slower. I keep on over shooting the picture area.
Over all, I think that this camera is a good value for the
money. I like the Ricoh CX1 a lot. I would recommend
this camera to my friends.
Problems: No problems encounter yet.

Opinion: The camera records very good images for a compact...
It has some very good features - image stabilisation,
level sensor & High Dynamic Range (more of this under
'problems....')
Problems: The only feature I miss (slightly) is a viewfinder - but
the superb 'hi-res' screen is very good BUT I got this
camera primarily for HDR (this is the biggest problem
with 'compacts' in my opinion) & it is poor.... Even on
the highest setting, it's effect is small...
Opinion: For a compact camera, I'm really happy with my CX1 purchase. Good color, and zoom
range. Can shoot 4 frames/seconds which I didn't think I'd use, but find very useful.
Problems: Some image noise issues at the higher (400) iso settings, which I think most cameras
in this class have.
