Thank you
Problems: I have no Idea on how to use no books or software or cables.
Problems: have problems using other than 2 mg smart card. Tried 32 and 16 mg, can not get them to work.
Thanks
Opinion: The HP Photosmart printers have refreshed my use of this little camera. I always liked the size, the ease of use, the images produced on screen, and the features of the camera. I've had the camera a couple of years and originally used it to to post images on the web, or send jpg's to friends and family. With my HP Photosmat 1115 printer I now have become addicted to printing 4 x 6 glossy prints. Typically I shoot 30 or 40 1024 x 768 resolution images and print 4 or 5. Images are sharpe and clear, with very acceptable color resoultion.
Sound clips, pictures on pictures, pictures of pictures, and being able to place images on a VHS cartridge to send to grandma, who does not know what a computer is, I really enjoy. Nice touch for this otherwise very useful little camera.
Problems: As everyone notes, battery time sucks. I can get 40 minutes off a pair of NmHi batteries, that seem to be drained three days after I've charged them and before the first shot. However lots of batteries and a fast charger are a simple solution. Changing batteries, or changing film ... so what's the difference.
Opinion: I made well over 10000 shots with this camera in all kinds of settings and enviroinments. This is an excellent basic camera, which always delivers good quality pictures and movies. It performs much better in full light conditions as it has no back light option. Flash is good for 3-4m distance only but this is how it should be for this kind of device. I DO NOT agree with the opinion expressed by one of other users about windows XP problems. I run this camera's original software as well as its TWAIN module on windows 98, 98SE and XP PRO - flawlesly. I feed pictures to both original software as well as to Photoshop and PaintShop Pro with no problems at all. Perhaps one should learn more about setup and installation in Windows before blaming it on camera's software. I take pictures in highest resolution and download them as RAW format saved as TIF in the software what allows me to receive acceptable printouts of up to 8.5x11". For higher dot definition I use the printout size of up to 3.79" wide for 360DPI, and 1.89" for 720 DPI (razor sharp images). Superb is the sequence option allowing for 0.2 sec spacing. This miniature (!) stealth (!) camera proved many times to be an excellent addition to my large SLR cameras.
Problems: Not real problems. High Power consumption is still a common issue for this kind of cameras so even NIMH batteries do not last very long. I equipped myself with optional AC adapter for indoor or studio use, and extra 4 NiMH batteries precharged, and 2 extra 16 Mb memory cards (this camera's limit) , and this way I am always ready for any size of photo session required... all in super compact edition.
Opinion: I've used this camera for a couple years, and have taken several thousand photos with it so far. It's even survived a six-foot fall onto a concrete floor without a scratch. It's practically bulletproof.
Even though the software claims to require a Power Mac, I found that it even runs fine on my old '040 Mac Performa, as long as I temporarily disable printer and modem extensions. (Not that I actually use the included software. Does anybody? Not with better software like Cameraid that works for serial downloads, or all the USB, floppy, and PC card adapters for SamrtMedia that are available.)
I like the fact that the internal mic lets you record 4 seconds of ambient sound to go with each photo, and it takes nice little mini-movies. It has an easy-to-use macro mode, and is good at taking photos without flash, even in low lighting, that you'd never be able to get with even 1000 ASA film. It's small and lightweight enough that I constantly keep it in my purse for whenever the mood strikes me to take a photo. I even like the included battery recharger better than others I've found -- it charges faster, and both batteries face the same direction, so you can quickly pop them in without looking.
I'm currently shopping for a newer camera with an optical zoom, but I'm finding it hard to find any as well-built, easy-to-use and with all the features of this little beauty.
Problems: It can only use up to 16MB SmartMedia cards (although that's enough to hold up to 280 640x480 photos). The LCD wears down batteries quickly, so I usually carry a pouch filled with freshly-charged AA NiMHs. I wish I could turn the flash on and off with a switch without having to go into the menu, the way you can with macro mode, and I wish I could keep memo (mic record) mode switched on, rather than having to re-enable it for each shot. It's an older model, so the image quality, size, and zoomability just can't compare with today's models, but if you find one used for under $100, it's a great introduction to digital photography.
Opinion: No Problems But I have a problem. I tried to use Smart media Sandisk 32 MB and The camera hungs.
What isthe maximum memory I can put?
Has anyone used Sandisk SmartMedia?
Opinion: I love this camera - only one problem though. I have never been able to get the videos to transfer into my machine. I have tried everything. I think i got a box w/o the software in the first place. And this was years ago. If anyone has the the software - i think it is Apple quicktime 2.0 - let me know. You cant find it any more - cause it is ancient - EMAIL: den@hehman.com
Opinion: Excellent camera, I have had mine for nearly 12 Months and taking photos is a lot easier especially being able to view them after taking the shots.
Easier to cancel frames if your not happy with picture.
Problems: When transferring images to my computer and doing a print out I find the prints are not as good as you would normally get in a camera store.
Why is that?
Opinion: Incompatible with new operating systems! I've owned this camera for about two years now, and installed it on Windows 98. Great little camera.. never gave me any trouble -- took awesome pictures. I highly recommend buying the power adapter to save energy when downloading. However, after upgrading to Windows XP, I discovered the ugly side of Sanyo. See notes below.
Problems: THIS CAMERA DOES NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 2000, ME, or XP! Sanyo does NOT have a fix or a patch, and does not intend to introduce one. Numerous calls to "Greg Gibson" at customer service have yielded NO callbacks. The online feedback forum has responded twice, telling me to "cooperate" and use the recommended software in the owner's manual. Basically, forget about upgrading with this product. Loved the camera (when it worked).... THIS IS MY LAST SANYO PURCHASE ...EVER!
