Opinion: I have bought this Camera in Dec 2010 and it worked fine in terms of picture quality. But it has serious bugs in it. Intermittently the is a message saying Turn the power Off & on again. The lens keeps zooming in & out and wont stop doing that even after power is turned off... Battery has to be removed to stop this action.
Camera lying with sony service center for over a month with no resolution.
Stay away from this model.

Opinion: Fast review. I often post a review of a camera after I initially try it out, and then come back and make any corrections. Now a day later I have a more realistic opinion. This has allot of noise. Its just marginally better then their w series or marginally worse, I think its worse. I expected better especiallly with their new technology and was horribly disappointed. Sony should be totally ashamed of themselves or sony has to fix something. I was kind of disappointed with Nikon p90 in the same way. I believe people are not and were not getting their moneys worth. Both cameras were / are so bad and even if its cheap.I believe both cameras desperately need a recall.
Problems: give me a few days and now I know its horrible unless I just got a bad camera. I say the same for Nikon, needs a recall desperately to ever buy anything from them. At least Sony has a better record for consumer cameras but not this one. If Sony had one ounce of compassion they would recall this camera
Opinion: Exelent camera to ISO 200
Abouve thad, the pictures turn fusy. When you look at 100%
Afcours you won,t see it on a print.I printed pictures to 10X15
To iso 1600,and the pictures look perfect.
The camera start up an little slow, the lens have to come out.
the IS is exelent.
I have compared the pictures side by side with panasonic LX3.
And have to say, picture qality is the same, however the lens on the LX3 is alot brighter at F2.0
But as long you stay between ISO 80 and 200 the pictures are great.
The camera focus fast, even in low light, the LCD screen is exelent to.
The zoom controller work great you can zoom slow and fast.
In P mode you have control over some settings but not like the LX3
However there is an manuel mode to.
and alot of scenes to.
Its an nice camera for the monye, and it use SD cards to.
Expecial the camera cost half of the LX3
and start at 25 Mm.
Not bad for super light compact camera.
The camera feel abit more toy then LX3,however it take great pictures at low iso.
and fit easely in your pocket to.
Batterie live is also exelent.
There is nothing you cannot do with this camera, from P mode to manuel, have ADL to,face dedection, good low light pictures 30 sec.
CA distortion is verry low,and only see in bad wether,or high contrast pictures, verry little soft corners,an tiny bit just at 25 mm
Overal yes I can recoment this camera,I have seen alot wors pictures from other compacts thad cost double of this one.
Problems: Batterie door is very week point, light plastiek,be carifull,or it break down,.
Otherwise exelent compact.
Opinion: Image quality is Ok, but the screen has lot of grains while taking pics. Compared to 10MP camera , H55 shows lots of Grains and even a slight movement makes the pics distorted.Out of 10 snaps i took , 6-7 had problems.
even if this model has good features , there is lot of problems with the grains on the Screen, you don't feel like taking pics when you see so many grains on the Screen. I strongly suggest not to go for this model for the experince that i had. Sony should re looki into this model and improve the pic quality and redude the grains , atleat to a 10 MP model level!!!
Opinion: I wanted a pocket camera with good resolution, long optical zoom and movie feature.
This little camera is perfect. Very good pictures, even in low light, easy to use and carry, and for a very good price.
Opinion: I have a canon 40D SLR and was looking to replace a
Panasonic TZ1 that was lost or stolen. I needed a
good HD movie mode, as we are shooting more movies
of the kids. And I needed to have optical zoom
available when shooting movies. I was attracted to the
Sony's mp4 format and some of it's intelligent auto
features. The price was similar to other Panasonic TZ
series zooms, but I liked the mp4 movie format more.
Unfortunately, I ended up returning the Sony after
using it extensively for five days. I wasn't happy with
the low light photos and the LCD was not very good in
low light either. I ended up buying the more expensive
Sony Hx5v which produces much better results. More
money, but better.
Problems: Constant "creaking" of camera shell when pushing the
control buttons on the back. Annoying.
