Opinion: Just got this camera over the weekend. Here are my observations:
* 3-inch LCD screen is excellent
* Images were sharp
* Color saturation good
* Slideshow playback with music a novel idea
Problems: * Out of focus images, i guess due to camera shake
* Perfect if it had a Optical Image stabilizer
* Price (ouch!)
Opinion: I waited for this little camera. The images are sharp the musical slideshow is a very nifty feature...Video is clear and sound is excellent...touch control is rather fun and the large 3" LCD is great. I miss the magnifiyer as in the P200 and T1 so I have to resort to macro. However..I still feel this is a wise choice. Battery is strong yet I ordered an extra.(not out yet)..
Problems: Some blurred photos....I agree a stablizer would have been an added bonus
Opinion: I have had many many small digital cameras including the Sony T1 I did not jump in for the Sony T5 or T7 but waited for the N1. I have to say its brill it takes photo's easy and they are well defined crisp and clear.
The part and evening dinner shots are vastly better than the T1 the only thing is you must buy a case co's of the touch screen. It is so easy to use that I am using the fun parts too like the paint option that's real cool when you take pic's of say your pets or kids you can jazz the prints up with slogans.
It feels lighter than the T1 but slightly larger I have got use to it now I still think the T1 is built like atank and I have yet to see a camera with the same steel strong S---T House feel to it.
They should provide you with a case and a micro cloth both of which are extra's I bought a 2gb card and have some real good video as well as some good battery lasting times. I miss the docking cradle as on other Sony camera's again you have to buy it as a add on! So that reflects in the truel price of the camera. Other than that its Fun all the Way.......With some pretty semi pro results!
Problems: None at all
prefer if it came in Black
With Case
and docking station.
Opinion: SONY delivers a Pocket Masterworks. Sony has once again delivered another unique pocket camera. It delivers great high resolution images with excellent detail and saturation. When I set up the camera, with the touch-screen menu system, I set the saturation and sharpness up one tick; I also set the, what appears to be a huge 3" LCD touch-screen monitor up to brighter level. What a incredible difference going from 2" to 3" monitor size. One can really share the shots captured with family, guests, and friends... With this done, the camera produces great images from the pocket. In the pocket, I keep it in an old soft leather glasses case. The flash seems significantly brighter than the "T" series cameras. I purchased a spare battery and SONY's high speed 1GB data card, which will hold over 250 images at my recommended highest resolution setting or 12-15 minutes of Video. Also set the video to "Hi Resolution Fine" 640x480 mode. The videos are stunning, vivid, and compete with typical tape video camera performance, for the casual viewer. May be a bit over-spoken, but, the video quality is so good comming from this little footprint, the results are shockingly positive.
There are a number of sites including SONY's site, and dpreview.com which describes the camera in exhaustive detail, so I will not repeat these facts here. I am an adjunct faculty member of Florida Altantic University, FAU, teaching "Principles of Digital Photography and Post Image Processing," also wrote a book of the same title published by Pearson Education, 2004. To help my students with their study of this topic, I attempt to keep up with the latest releases of digital camera equipment. Go to my site FAUdigital.com, to see images from this exciting new camera. FYI, I purchased this camera for my personal use and am delightd with its performance. I also have professional Canon digital SLRS, however I cannot put them in my pocket. There are trade-offs with a pocket camera, but this little masterpiece has what it takes to capture those pictures, when carrying a SLR is not convenient. Problems: The huge screen is amaziing and touch-screen. Getting used to the touch-screen takes a few moments, however this is probably the wave of the future as more companies follow SONY's lead. The touch-screen software camera control, eliminates a bunch of buttons on the metalic body. However, once you are used to the touch-screen it is wonderful.
