One of a pair of near identical twins (the other being the DSC-T90), the DSC-T900 has the usual T series attributes; ultra slim styling, sliding lens cover and simple point-and-shoot operation. The 12 megapixel sensor can also deliver 720p HD movies (MPEG4 format) and Sony's latest intelligent automatic systems. The whole thing is finished off with a large, high resolution (921k pixel) 3.5" screen and useful 35-140mm (equiv.) 5x zoom with optical image stabilization. The less expensive T-90 has a smaller, lower resolution screen but is otherwise pretty much the same camera. April 2009

Opinion: Very disappointed in the T900. I purchased it as an upgrade to my two year old T100, but aside from 720 HD video, touchscreen and more resolution, it was no upgrade. I compared the photos side by side with my T100 and the T900 produced much more purple around areas of high contrast. The T100 was slightly noisy when taking flash photos and the T900 is no different. My T100 has a 5x optical zoom lens and the T900 is only 4x.
I'm not sure if Sony is just trying to cut costs these days by using cheaper materials, but my 2 year old Sony definitely beats this new one in terms of image quality!
Problems: Major purple fringing and noisy images.
Opinion: CAMERA DOES SUPPORT 16 gb PRODUO Originally bought the T-700 which has very good image quality, but decided to return it for the T-900. I must say for it's size it is very impressive. I also have a cannon sd790, but the Sony is the instant favorite. It has a fantastic touch screen, tremendous amount of options, build quality is superb and a fast focusing time. Best of all it's super tiny & a take anywhere camera, with high definition video. I bought the largest card available which is a 16 gb PRODUO (MagicGate) for it, as well as a spare battery & I'm loving it. Haven't noticed any purple fringing as stated by other reviewer, it's a tiny camera so obviously low light situations can be challenging but this is nothing new to tiny p&s camera's. Haven't noticed any noise, I always shoot in either 80 or 100 ISO.
Problems: None, this camera is cheaper than the T-700. I would recommend a spare battery.
Opinion: Having had sony cybershots since the T1 and also the N1 and N2 I decided to have a new T900. I like the other chap on here bought the largest Sony Pro Duo card (he never gave the size) mine was a 16GB but the camera (well mine at least) does not function with that card I have bought another 16GB just incase it was faulty but No good all it keept saying "please reinstall memory card"
Anyway I then rang the sony people "Hu what a laugh I may as well spoke to my dog!
Moving on I have now bought a 8GB Card which works well with the T900.
I find the camera takes very good photo's allowing for it's size it is a camera like most front lens camera's that you have to be very careful not to put your finger over all or part of the lens when focusing!
The drop down lens cover can be fiddly but OK the start up time is Ace! and the big screen is great. The icons are very easy to understand and the changes can be done swiftly.
I to don't like the screen in very bright sunshine but the smile mode is great fun and it works well.
The versatilty of this camera is good and it is a definate camera to take with you I ride Motorcycles and its good to be able to have it with you and even let my passengers use it on the fly!
I have no probs with the battery and the HD Video is real good just wish I knew how to get them from the camera off the PC to a disc that we can play in the lounge!
Its never going to be a rugid as my old T1 but it beats it hands down on picture quality.
Overall a great neat little camera that can take some perfect close up pics!
Problems: Wont handle 16GB Sony pro duo memory card !
Not good enough zoom
Difficult to drop lens slide sometimes
Screen In sunshine useless
