Opinion: I've used the DSC-W350 for a year and it is a really great camera. 14.1 megapixels give you sharp images like portraits and landscapes in good conditions. It's small and lightweight, is very nicely designed, and has an easy menu for adjusting while in manual mode. It is surprisingly good at macro for it's price range, and is better than many other compacts that I have come across. Very good for a first camera, it will get you interested into photography. Also not bad as a backup. Since it is a compact, though, noise is visible at around 1600 ISO but good in 800, so it is not built for low light. Unless your subject is light itself. Also has good color when set to right exposure for sunsets and such. Some very minor focus and ISO problems, as expected by a little camera, but all is well.
Problems: The flash is pretty much useless. Images not too sharp when zoomed into close objects. Not for extreme low light. Focus sometimes may not focus where you want it to, but you can find a way around it by focusing on another subject equidistant from what you want to shoot.
Opinion: It has some interesting and creative features, more than a normal compact camera. It works very well in every situation but not in low light conditions without flash, because pictures are grainy.
Image stabilizer works well.
Problems: Pictures with full zoom are little blurred
Pictures in low light conditions and without flash are grainy
Opinion: It was purchased for my father and ease of use was paramount. I am not disappointed. Compared to my own F200EXR, OSS, exposure and AWB are better. F200EXR seems to have the edge on face detection but I have not used the Sony long enough to tell for certain. Overall the build quality is good and nowhere near as poor as some might suggest. The lens shows no sign of misalignment and edge sharpness is good and better than the F200EXR. I thought the F200EXR would be far ahead of the Sony at high iso, but the Sony is actually pretty good at iso400 6MP. It is a great tiny camera for those who wants good results without constant manual override.
Problems: Camera of this sort is great for 4x6" prints, but there is no 3:2 option, but 4:3 only at 6MP. The power button is a little hard to press, but more like a pro than con for safety reason.
Opinion: I shoot for a newspaper magazine. okay i bought a Nikon
P-100, didn't work! Then a Sony w-370, sorry, not cool!
Then I bought the Sony w-350, tiny little camera!
Excellent! Everything is cool, all the features are great. No
it's not an Alpha but it cost $200 and it rocks. As a back
up to my Alpha it is so much better than any P&S I have
ever used. If you want an over featured little gem this is
the camera to buy! 5 stars for Sony!!!!!
Problems: Smile settings and blink alert work but don't depend on
them. USE your settings! Pet set is so cool! This tiny little
camera is sophisticated enough to let you be professional.
Don't rely on "easy" although it makes perfect pics.
