Opinion: This a small but very effective camera. Takes excellent pictures, very clear and interfaces well with your PC. A very usefull travelling tool.
Would have recommanded it a year ago, it is now getting outdated and is discontinued by Toshiba.
Opinion: I really loved this camera. It had some good semi-manual features. The downside was that after a year's use (roughly 6000 pic later) the parts started wearing out. My lens froze on me and had to be repaired. Then my CCD stopped working altogether. I'm almost in line for a replacement camera. So if you take a LOT of photos, get an extended warranty.
Problems: See above
Opinion: This Toshiba camera is an "okay" camera but I don't think I would recommend it.
GOOD THINGS:
- 3x optical zoom
- Price
- Resolution (considering the price)
- Handy feature buttons such as flash / macro and display on and off.
- Sturdier than I had expected.
- Menu is clear and simple and easy to use
BAD THINGS:
- Flash pops up every time you turn the cam on and off. If it ever malfunctions, what are you going to do? Would probably be expensive to fix.
- Makes a strange "buzzing" noise everytime you take a picture. It is annoying.
- The lens extends out too far which is strange (even when the 3x optical zoom is not being used).
- It takes approximately 5 seconds to save a picture - way too long!!!
- Movie mode is mediocre and does not have audio
- There is a long delay from when you press the button to when the picture is actually taken.
- You HAVE to install the software in order to transfer the pic from the camera. This is not acceptable (unless you have a card reader which then this is not a problem).
OVERALL:
It's an "okay" camera for the price. It is after all over 3 megapixels and the pictures are decent. However, I would probably go for a Canon or Nikon or Minolta and pay a bit more - like the Canon Powershot s230 or the new Canon Powershot SD100.
Problems: Refer above
Opinion: its Toshiba
Opinion: As a user of high quality slr cameras for many years I was a little sceptical of the quality of digital cameras but now i'm a beliver. The Toshiba PDR-3310 is in my books is underrated by the bigger names out there, the camera is easy to use, compact, great features and comes with very good software.P.Wharton Garden Bay B.C Canada
Opinion: The camera is very small and has great features. The images are quite impressive for such a small package. The menus are intuitively very good and easy to follow. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone with a desire for a small sized camera and optical zoom.
Problems: Initially had some problems with WinXP connectivity, after one successful phone call to Toshiba all was resolved.
