Opinion: There is a lot more to this little camera than most these days. I would just like to say...WOW!

Problems: They only give you an eight mb smart media card to start with. In order to enjoy some of the features in it, you will want at least 64mb.

Opinion: I'm a owner of Nikon Coolpix 950 for more than two years. I'm happy what the 950 did for me for the past two years. Because I had $675 from Toshiba's free card to spend, I decided to get the PDR-M81. The camera is compact compare to CP950. But the LCD is not as big as CP950, and it's not as useful as the LCD of the CP950. The focus system is not as fast as CP 950 although the initial power up is faster than CP 950. Image quality is fine. but Macro function is far useless compare to Nikon Coolpix. Bottons and navigations are easy and function well. Red eyes reduction is better than Coolpix. Personally, I perfer Compact Flash Card over Smart Media card.

one of the bigest problem is the baterry drian so fast compare to CP 950. I use NiH rechargeble, in CP950 it can take about 120 pictures in 1600x1200 full resolution with LCD on, but on PRD-M81, it can only take about 40 or so. and you can fell the camera heat up.

Overall, I fell nikon coolpix is a much better camera....coolpix 950..990..995...5000. I would not recommed this camera to my friends.

Opinion: Recently purchased at Best Buy - What a great camera !! Very easy to use with excellent picture quality and vivid color reproduction. The AVI Movie mode is really fun - up to 3 minutes. This is by far the best 4 meg camera on the market at $100 below the others. Congratulations to Toshiba !!!
