Capture mode display
Top left of
the LCD indicates the amount of used space
on the CF card and the amount of used internal
DRAM . The status line on the top indicates
either Ready,
Not Enough Light,
Out of Range
or Battery Low.
Along the bottom of
the LCD are softkey options Still
(switch between Still, Burst and Time-lapse
modes), Overlay
(turn menu and status text overlays on and
off) and Status
(show current camera settings such as Picture
Type, Quality, Resolution and File Type).

|
Entering
the menu system in capture mode displays the
Digita menu system (example left) which is
logically sectioned, each section represented
by an icon, within each section are various
sub-menus.
|
| |
Each
sub-menu option can be scrolled through and settings
are stored or canceled using the softkeys below
the LCD (example of a sub-menu left). |
| |
If
there is any text entry to be made (such as creating
an album) it is performed by scrolling through
an alphabet and picking each letter one at a time. |

Review mode display
|
This
is the LCD in Review mode, the file number
(running sequence number) is shown top left
along with the date and time of the shot and
the mode (the little icon on the right). Softkey
options are Delete
and Magnify.
Magnifying the image you can scroll around
it using the four-way controller.
|
It's worth noting that
the DC265 redisplays images in the same way as other Digita
cameras (the Minolta Dimage EX1500 comes to mind) in that
it displays a "rough thumbnail" blown up to
screensize first and decodes the more detailed image over
the top of it, you can't Magnify until it's finished decoding
however you can access other options such as skip to the
next / previous image and delete the current image. That's
the same also as the Nikon Coolpix 950 (non-Digita) although
it does it considerably quicker.

Connect mode
Connect mode
simply sets the camera up to connect either by wire (USB,
Serial) or via IrDA. Note that the camera can still operate
(apart from the LCD display) in this mode, as it can be
controlled from the desktop computer.
Info mode
Info mode
simply displays copyright and version information, in
the case of the camera I had for review it was:
