Compact Flash / Battery Compartment
To open the 2500's only compartment you flip up a small
locking lever and slide open the entire right end of the camera. Inside
you'll find a slot for the supplied Nikon EN-EL2 1000 mAh 3.7V (4.1 Wh)
Lithium-Ion battery and a Type I Compact Flash slot. First impressions
of this door is that it's a bit cumbersome, however in time using it becomes
second nature and the 'wrap around' design does add to overall camera
stiffness.

Battery Charger
 |
Supplied with the Coolpix 2500 is this new MH-60 battery charger
(input 100 - 240 V). A full charge of the EN-EL2 battery takes approximately
two hours in this charger.

Connections
 |
This won't take too long to explain as the Coolpix 2500 has just
one connector, a tiny USB socket for connection to a computer via
the supplied cable. Clearly the choice not to include video out
makes the overall camera design (cost) simpler and reduces size.
I personally would like to have seen Nikon keep a video output
capability but certainly it's not a feature used by everyone and
may simply not be important to the target audience.

Flash
 |
The 2500's small flash unit is mounted vertically alongside the
lens. This means that it rotates, and more importantly, is always
pointing at the subject when you take a shot. The disadvantage is
that its close proximity to the lens is more likely to produce redeye
than one mounted further away.
The unit itself is rated with a range of 0.4 - 3.0 m (1.3 - 9.8
ft) at wide angle and 0.4 - 1.7 m (1.3 - 5.6 ft) at full telephoto.
